Should We Grade Our Teacher?

                Teacher is a kind of honorable profession. We call someone with the word ‘teacher‘ if they’ve given such a useful knowledge for us and they also make us to become a master for a specific thing we have learned. Actually, all of the teachers have the same purpose in teaching us. Their purpose is for making their student understand to the topic they have delivered to their student. In the way of delivering the topic, some teachers may have a different way. It is based on the teacher it self. If the way is easily accepted by the student, student will be very easy to accept the material. Meanwhile if the way is very complicated and the student are very hard to accept the material, this will disturb the relation between teacher and student. Usually, students are likely to grade their teacher. It means, the students are differentiate the teacher based on their view about the teacher. Those things may bring either advantages or disadvantages which will be  explained in this article.

                Grading our teacher sometimes brings some unuseful things for us. The first unuseful thing is our relationship with our teacher will be disturbed. If the relationship have been disturbed, the process of delivering and accepting the knowledge will be disturbed too. Why? For example, if we have categorized teacher A to the group of boring teacher, we will always think that teacher A will teach us in a boring way because our paradigm to that teacher is boring teacher. When we still use that paradigm, we will be very hard to absorb the knowledge from that teacher. And finally, we can not understand the topic given.

The second unuseful thing is our trust on the low-grade teacher will decrease. As we know that trust is the most important thing that we should put it on our teacher. When we have a high trust to our teacher, we will be easier to absorb the knowledge and develop it. Meanwhile, if we have a low trust to our teacher, we will be so hard to develop our self because we are not believing in what our teacher have said although it is truth. Beside reducing our trust, grading our teacher is an impolite thing based on the social value especially if the teachers have known that they have been classified by their student and the teacher can not accept that grading.

However, grading the teacher may also bring so many advantages for us. When we grade our teacher and we inform them about it politely as a polite complain for the teacher, the teacher will not be angry to us. By that information, the teacher can reflect their shelves about their way to explain or something else. So, in the next lesson, our teacher will be better for delivering the material and we can easily get the material. From grading our teacher, we can also know where should we put our shelves when we are facing the different teacher with different way of teaching. By grading our teacher, we will be able to have an adaptation for different teacher. So, it will make us easier to absorb the knowledge if we have a good adaptation to our different type of teacher. Indirectly, by grading our teacher, we seems like giving a suggestion to our teacher to make them have a good way for a better perspective of delivering the knowledge.

By the explanation above, we can read that there are so many advantages and disadvantages of grading our teacher. What we have to do now is preventing the unwanted thing happens to us when we want to grade our teacher. We should also be ready if something  happens to us when we are grading our teacher because that is our choice for grading our teacher. So, we should have a high responsibility to our choice.

Is The Election Process in Indonesia Fair?

            An election is a formal decision-making process by which the people choose an individual to hold the organization. Elections have been the usual mechanism by which modern representative democracy has operated since the 17th century. As we know that our country is a democratic country, so there will be an election process for choosing the one who hold this whole country. In this country, there will be an election process for once every five years. The election has been planned very well by the government. But, has it been a fair election for the people although the planning has been good? That is the problem we are going to discuss.

            Based on our election principle ‘LUBERJURDIL’ ( Directly, General, Freedom, Secret, Honest, Fair), systematically, our election process are very appreciating the fairness and the other aspect stated in that principle. The evidence are such as all of the citizens have the same chance to choose their choice. This shows that our election process has already been suitable with its principle. Our election process has also been prepared very well long time before the date. It seems like there is a grand event that should be prepared as well. For the people, there are no provocation that forces them to choose the specific candididate. The people are given a freedom of choosing. So, they can choose the candidates based  on the voice of their heart.

            However, the practices are sometimes different with the systematic. There are also so many contraventions happened in the election process. The first contravention is about the election’s information. Usually, the election’s information do not reach the people in the inland site. We know that the inland site is the area that is very difficult to be reached, but, at least the government should give more effort to deliver the information to make the election process fair. From the candidates side, there are also some contraventions. Usually, The Candidates run their campaign long time before the due date. They do it secretly. From that contravention, we can know that our election process have not been fair. Still, there are some corrupotibilities happened. Moreover, some of candidates are using money politic which is actually strictly prohibited by the law. But still, they do it secretly and silently. This also shows that our election needs to be fixed to make it become a fair election process.

            Based on the passage above, we can know that our election’s systematic is very good. However, the practice is not as what we are expecting of. There are still so many contraventions happened. Knowing this, as a good citizen, we have a responsibility to fix that problem by giving some advices to the government. Then, Government will rearrange the practice of the election. If all of the problem above have been fixed, we believe that our election will be 100% fair.

How is Our Dependency to the Computer?

            Day by day, we can feel that the globalisation atmosphere is continuously spreading out of the world. One of its evidence is the improvement in the technological side. As we know that before 20^th century, people use only a simple technology for helping their job. But, after the invention of computer in 1940-1945, all of the simple technology are changed into a modern technology.  From computer’s definition, we can conclude that computer is a general purpose device that can be programmed to carry out a finite set of arithmetic or logical operations. It seems complicated. But, if it is used, it’ll be more effective to doing the job than if we do the job manually or by old technology. Knowing this effectiveness, people will likely to use computer for doing their job. The problem will arise when all of the people are fully using the computer. It seems like their role are replaced by the computer. Is it right? We will discuss it in this article.

            Based on the fact, most of the people in the world are now using computer. But, there are also some people who aren’t using computer.  There are some reasons for somebody that aren’t using computer. They think that computer are very complicated system. So, if they want to use computer, they have to go to the course first. So, it will waste their time for doing another essential work. Beside that reason, there are some others reason that comes from the inland people. People in the inland area are usually refusing the application of computer in their daily life. Some of them think that computer can disturb their native tradition.

            However, we can’t sidestep the fact that we are now really need computer in our life. Imagine if there are no computer in the world, what would our world be? All of the people will do their work manually and it needs a very long time to be done. That will be a very bad impact of not using computer in the life. Furthermore, computer is the main suporter of the improvement of the globalisation. It support the technological side and from this side it can support a lot of things in the life. So, if we are not supported by computer, we will miss some of the essential of globalisation in our life. In addition, most of the things in the job are now using a computerized stadard. So, if we can’t operate the computer as well, we will not be considered as a professional worker.

            Once again, we are now in a globalisation era which means all of the things we do should be as modern as the globalisation grows up. Computer is one of the product of the globalisation’s development which is becoming the main supporter of the globalisation development. If we do not want to be left behind, we should be able to operate that main supporter. If we can not, it will be very hard for us to be a developed human.

Should Our Time be Colored by The Homework?

Homework can be defined as a task assigned to students by their teachers to be completed outside of class. This is usually given by the teacher when the teacher has not completed explaining their material or maybe the teacher want to give the extra task for enhancing the student skill. Homework is such a bridge that joins teachers and parents. From the teacher’s perspective there is the opportunity to monitor students' independent progress. For parents there is the potential to gain a greater appreciation of education and to express positive attitudes towards their children’s achievement. However, by the time passed, there are some complains from the student about their homework. Mostly, their protests are about the huge amount of homework which has to be done in a very short time. This might be a worst condition for the student because they will be under-pressured by that kind of condition. By discussing those problems in this short article, we do hope that we can determine which one is the best solution for this homework problem.

As we know that some of students think that homework is very useful for their life. They say that homework is good for time management skills and is useful for reinforcing what students learn in the classroom. Unconsciously, by doing the homework, we are trained to use our time efficiently and also enhance our understanding about what have we learned in the school. In the other words, we can say that homework can reduce our laziness. We will feel busy when we have homework because we still have something to do. Beside, some of teachers usually use the homework as the increasing scores recommendation for the student whose score is below the standard. So, with this, homework can help the student to lift up their score.

However, sometimes, the students refer to the homework as a boring job. This is caused by a huge number of homework that is given in a short time. Usually, the homework is not even better when it comes in a huge number. As a quote said, ‘something who wins in quantitative doesn’t mean they win in qualitative’. It is meant that a huge number of homework does not determine the quality of that homework. It can be worst or vice versa.

The study found that 75 percent of students said they did at least 30 minutes, while 45 percent said they spend more than an hour on homework each “regular school day.” Yet, 90 percent of students surveyed reported that homework caused them additional stress, specifically students who received “average” or “below average” grades. Based on the fact above, we can see that most of the students think that homework can bring an additional stress for them. If the students have got their stress earlier, so they can’t study for the specific topic of their material in the available time. It is meant that their time for study specific topic is captured by the time they use for doing their homework. It is also meant that their spare time will be deducted because of doing this homework.

                Moreover, the teachers usually do not check the homework they give to their student. It will make the student feels terribly disappointed because the teachers seem like not giving any appreciations for their student’s work. If the student disappointed, it will reduce the trust of the student to their teachers which is a very dangerous problem for the teacher-student’s relationship.

                 

After having a lot of explanation above, we can know that homework have some benefit for us. That is what things we can take from the homework. We can use it for our useful life. However, we could not bear the fact that too much homework is going to be a useless thing for us. It can make our thinking overload, our leisure time is gone, and also our stress level is becoming higher. So, should our time be colored by the homework?
